“We’ll pick you up at 5:30am.” Truthfully, it’s been a LONG time since I’ve seen that hour. I really don’t have a problem waking up that early – I just don’t really need to do it these days. But yesterday, June 10th – I had the privilege of photographing my friends Jeff and Anna Bush, for their 4-year anniversary! And I am SO excited to share these photos with you! Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island is one of the most magical places to photograph, and absolutely worth the early wake up call.

Jeff’s actually a phenominal wedding cinematographer (check out some of his work here!) and a good friend of mine. It’s been so much fun for Sarah and I to get closer to these two amazing souls, and it was an absolute blast getting to photograph these two on Driftwood Beach.

Driftwood Beach is on Jekyll Island, which is one of Georgia’s ‘Golden Isles.‘ I’ve written about the Golden Isles before here on this blog, and you can learn more about it in my Complete Savannah Engagement Guide, here! But it’s definitely one of my favorite places to photograph, and I’m so happy we were able to do it at sunrise this time! It definitely takes a little bit more work and planning to get there nice and early, but it was so worth it! If you’re planning to go out there, don’t forget to check the tide charts!

Jeff and Anna are both talented and creative people, I had to bring out the big guns for this photoshoot. The entire session was shot on the Leica SL system, with mainly the 50mm Summilux ASPH. You’ll notice a few shots in here that are a little different than the rest – I’m curious if you can guess what lenses they were shot with! The cool thing is, the Leica SL adapts to so many other types of systems, so I can stick to one, amazing camera body to achieve so much variety.

The weather was absolutely perfect – we beat the heat by getting there at sunrise, and the clouds were rolling through quickly giving us bright sun and intermittent, dramatic cloud coverage! The old sun-dried oak trees were magical and romantic, and the mature palm trees gave us a perfect coastal tropical vibe.

I love these two wonderful people, and I’m so happy to share these images with you! be sure to leave the happy couple some love in the comments below, and wish them a happy 4th anniversary!!
